Cubes started off as a simple final project submission to a C++/DirectX class at Collins College. As development progressed, it was decided by its three developers to turn it into a small fully functional game.
Cubes was created by Sean White (engine programming), Travis Wright (sound & music programming) and Mark Webster (menu programming & documentation).
Controls/How To Play
The object of Cubes is simple. You control a small spinning black cube with the mouse. Your job is to collect other black cubes whilst avoiding the red ones. The more cubes you collect, the higher score becomes. Gradually, as you collect more cubes, the size of your own cube slowly increases while the speed and number of the cubes around you also slowly increase.
There are items to help you out though, occasionally a red or black sphere will fly across the screen. Black spheres will give you a random power up including (slow time, decrease your cube size and invulnerability) while red sphere will give you a random power-down which includes (speed up, increase your cube size and a score penalty).
Cubes is still in production with new features coming. Features include:
* Multiplayer support (a friend can play as the red cube)
* Particle effects
* A new wave of power-ups/downs.
* Different level types
